JEFF SLANE

PITCHING INSTRUCTOR
Jeff Slane, founder of Northeast Pitching Velocity Development in 2002, and morerecently,
of SHOVE Pitching and Performance, joins the Batters Eye team
bringing over 23 years of experience working with players at every stage of skilldevelopment, from beginners (children as young as 4 years of age) through andincluding youth, high school, college,
and pro athletes, both with affiliated and
“indy-ball” teams.

Experience

Intrigued by reports about the excellent results pitchers were achieving with a science-based approach to training and conditioning, Slane attended the first of many national conferences in 2006, learning from and studying with other like-minded coaches on the forefront of applying biomechanical and kinesthetic principles to their work. He quickly became convinced that these principles could inform the design of a highly individualized training and conditioning program for throwing athletes, one that could help each participant to develop an effective and
efficient throwing motion, and thereby to increase power, velocity, and control, while greatly reducing the likelihood of injury.

Slane’s work with athletes since then has confirmed that conclusion: for almost two decades, his science-based training modalities have delivered significant improvements in pitching performance for his players while helping them to maintain arm health. Slane’s methodology is data-driven, and includes periodic video analyses that allow him to provide athletes with detailed, objective feedback with respect to every aspect of their performance – precisely the kind of feedback they need in order to progress. The result: not only an athlete with more power, velocity, and control, and with the confidence to take the ball with the game on the line, but a more durable throwing athlete, consistently able to contribute more on the field.

He has helped train coaches in Wilton and Weston. His laid-back style and calm demeanor allow him to coach and train players of all ages
from LL to the college level. Chris currently Coaches the All American College level Team “CT Barons”, in their 30th year of play.
